An important factor in the construction of homes is the type and quality of the elements that make up the load-bearing structure and the masonry, which will determine the durability of a home over time.

The "heart" of ÖKOHAUS buildings consists of certified structural high-pressure C24 processed timber, which is specially imported for the construction of the buildings we erect. This uniquely characterized material is embedded within the interior of every wall we build. Along with other specialized materials of high standards and quality that are fully compatible and synergetic with each other, an ÖKOHAUS home is created!

•    Kiln drying wood Process
  A process where the wood is placed in specially constructed chambers (dryers) for 7+ days. Drying is achieved with hot and humid air where the drying factors (temperature, relative humidity, airspeed) are controlled.

  Advantages of wood after drying:

  •    Fungi and insects that may be present in the wood are killed, preventing future infestation by fungi (coloring or rotting).
  •    Increased mechanical strength of the wood.
  •    Future warping, cracking, and swelling are avoided.
  •    Weight reduction.

•    Wood impregnation process
  A wood treatment process carried out in special vacuum and high-pressure chambers. This increases the durability of the wood, greatly extends its lifespan, and preserves its natural beauty.

  •    Protection from fungi, insects, termites
